STROLLING JIM ROAD ULTRA

This Saturday I'm doing a race (The Strolling Jim) http://www.tynesweb.com/sj40/
I've wanted to do now for a few years. Just never got around to it. It's a road ultra, 40miles but really 41.2 miles. Ultras have a way of just rounding off miles. Plus I guess you can say this is an old school race. I received an email update from the race director last week.. " there will be water on the course, unmanned gallon jugs. I cannot promise any other aid". So there you go, hardcore, old school. However, I'm sure someone will come though with a manned station over 40ish miles.

As far as my crew, forget it. I tried to get some runner friends out there with me. Reasons like:

Finals
No babysitter
Presentation in Sweden
Trip to North Carolina
OVC championships

Will have me traveling/racing solo.
Other than the other racers out there. Doing enough of these sometimes it's easier to go alone but at the same time it's always nice to have someone waiting/expecting you when you cross that line. I miss that!
ps: Strolling Jim was the name of a Tennessee Walking Horse from the 1930's I think!
