Just a fast recap of my recent California trip. On Thursday I flew into LAX (rented a PT Cruiser) and drove up to Malibu and stayed at a friends beach condo. I ended the night at Zuma Sushi, so far so good.
On Friday a.m. decided to take the sea kayak out for the morning. I was surrounded by dolphins the whole time and getting back to shore was an adventure as the wave break almost drowned me, but it also woke me up. So after a very HOT shower and some coffee (Malibu Country Kitchen), I drove up Hwy 1 with some stops at cool places like Santa Barbara, wineries,
and cool overlooks.
I ended up in Monterey, CA. for dinner. Made it into Santa Cruz late Friday night.
On Saturday a.m. went to a long board surfing competition and later I paddle boarded and practised around Cowell's Beach. I didn't want to over exert myself on the standing paddle board as Sunday was the Skyline to Sea 50K. Everything went as planned as we started about 20 miles north of Santa Cruz and ran in and around and down the Redwood Basin State Park (beautiful) and ended up northward of Santa Cruz on Hwy 1 again by the Pacific ocean. The race was well organized and I would definitely do it again..this time with more time in the surf town of Santa Cruz as this little town has great surfing, coffee, food and a very cool VIBE
