STUMP JUMP REPORT

I took a gamble and it didn't pay off. There are times when a runner has to drop out of a race. Having a injury is one of those times. So here is what happened. I had all the confidence as it relates to fitness and race savvy as I could have. The first 5 miles were mostly down hill on a gravel path. Only the turns tweaked my foot but I could live with that pain. However, after crossing the road (mile 5) and heading up to Indian Rock House the trail was very technical, rocky, slanted etc..and it really took it's toll on my foot. by mile 8 it felt like someone was stabbing a knife into the sole of my foot. I had to abandon at mile 10. My splits were pretty much on target..the weather was hot like I like it and my fitness was there. I am just not 100%..not even 50% really now looking back on it.

The heat took out lots of runners..Steve Taylor, Jeff Edmonds were two. Jamie Dial finished in 5:15's and his wife Wendy Parker Dial won over-all women with a 5:30 something. Great job on all those who finished on a hot day and very tough course!

Thanks to all who helped in getting me to the starting line. Steve and Jamie. Eric , Maureen and Kim for all the Saturday group runs, Josh, Jasper and Kim for using their hands on my legs and especially to Liz for her moral support!

Right now I will focus on just getting healthy as I know their will be another race!
