STUMPJUMP 50K 2009

The photo above is of Dean Karnazes, North Face sponsored athlete who ran Stump Jump this year. He has written a couple of books. 50/50 about him doing 50 marathons in 50 days (how you too can achieve super endurance) and Ultra-Marathon Man (confessions of an all night runner) I believe
I crossed the finish line 35 minutes before him.:) but he's a nice guy.

One of my main goals this year was to actually finish this race. The last two years I've DNF'd mainly due to injury. Some time's what makes a difference in those that meet goals and the one's that give up are:
Persistence
Attitude
Discipline
So today's post is what I think it takes to be a winner. Not only in sporting events but in much of life itself.

Persistence: Doing something, anything, large or small that points you toward your goal!
Attitude: Love what your doing..I wake up and go to sleep with a positive attitude as I know I'm living my passion and I'm living my purpose.
Discipline: Training, everyday, even when you do not feel like training. Today, even after 31 miles on Saturday I did an easy 3 mile run and a circuit of weights. It's sad that what I do as a recovery workout most Americans couldn't do or would find difficult.

I've been blessed with the above ingrained in my psyche and physical body since I can remember. Have always gotten whatever I've set out to achieve, be it a job, racing pro 1-2 in cycling, education, being a national level bodybuilder, whatever! I'm very happy I possess it as it makes me feel there is nothing, if I want it bad enough, I can't achieve. You can add the 2009 Stump Jump50K to the above list. Yes, it took 3 years. But remember...Persistence, Positive Attitude and Discipline!!!!
