BLACK WARRIOR (take 3)

So this will be the third year of traveling down to middle of nowhere, Alabama to race this 50k . The race is laid back and easy. With controlled fire burns going on, making it a really unique experience

This was my first 50K ever in 2008. I traveled down with Tonya, who has won the 25K two years in a row now, making her the Black Warrior princess! In 2009 John Thorpe, Tonya and myself once again came down to met up with Wendi and Jamie Dial. Along with a few other Rock Creek racers. Jamie, I believed, set a course record that day! Which was a perfect Saturday to race a 50k weather-wise.

And again this year, Andrew, Brett and Tonya and myself will tackle the great Black Warrior forest starting off my 2010 Ultra season as a Rock Creek Team member.

I will race this season using the following as my approach. So many people I know live their lives in such a ridgid, closed heart and unpassionate way. Which is not turely living. I hope I
can set an example:
Approaching life with an open heart means that we have opened the door to a greater consciousness within ourselves.Spiritual teachers have always pointed to the heart as the seat of consciousness, and recently Western science has found evidence to support this realization. It turns out that the heart has its own central nervous system and is not simply under the rule of the brain as formerly believed. Anyone who has taken the time to explore the heart knows this and, more important, has realized that the heart is the source of our connection to a consciousness greater than the ego. Approaching life with an open heart means that we have opened the door to this greater consciousness, taking up residence alongside it in the seat of our soul.(dailyOm)
