So, after a pretty big week of training, I can't run. Tried yesterday and it just didn't happen. Too much pain in my lower abdominal region. I got this injury from my last race 4 weeks ago. Sometimes I can run, other times no. So this week its light cardio on the bike and elliptical, static exercises for the region, hot water bottle to heat the area and anti inflammatory.
I'm headed off to Colorado Thursday. My main objective is to summit Pikes Peak at 14,115ft but I'm not getting great reports about this happening. Mainly due to high winds and low temps. I'm preparing my gear/mind. Will see how far I can go up??
So no running for me, I have to really get my mind around this but there are so many other options I should be ok....the trail season is long and this is just January.

Doubt many peoples cross training from an injury include climbing a mountain in the dead of winter
Hmmm..you are correct. I can't run but can walk/hike an Mnt.incline. Should be good cardio due to elev gain..and it will not beat me up because I'm not jarring myself to death...I'll just slide down...
Good luck Johnny! I believe that seeing a different kind of tree (whether aspens on a mountain or palm trees near the ocean) is a restorative thing. Safe travels, feel better & have fun! Elizabeth H.
