I raced a 12 mile trail race at Fall Creek Falls, Tn. this past Saturday. (see photo above). My goal was to see if I could run faster than normal, as most of my races are 50K's and done at a little slower pace. Plus I wanted to just be able to hit the trail hard for a once. Something I have not been able to do since my injury back in December.
The race started out on about 2 miles of gravel/fire road..and I did start out slow with about 25 people ahead of me. Once I started on the trail head I could tell my body wanted to run fast although my head told me to stay contained. I did not want to re injure myself or make it any worse. I just pushed when I could, tested myself some. It felt awesome to go faster. My injury hurt sometimes but nothing like in the past, which was with every step. I passed something like 8 people on the trail and ended up 14th overall in 1:46. I would have liked a top 10 but know my body is not completely healed up. Results will come.
After the race I definitely felt my injury inflamed. I took Sunday completely off and started out Monday feeling OK!! Even did 400's on Tuesday. I'd say I'm about a month away from being able to train hard again. So can't wait!!!
