Feeling Awesome!!

Just finished my 2nd week of training for Stump Jump 50k and so far so good. 10 weeks to go!! I really only take it one day at a time but love looking back on my training log and see what I have accomplished.
Had two funny things happen on my runs this past week. One was during my long run...I mapped out a course over in East Nashville. Coming out of Shelby Bottoms I got lost...had to ask directions to Bongo Java East(coffee shop)..and I've lived in Nashville going on 30 years. Hmmm!Anyway, when I got there the Nashville Strider's were finishing up one of their training runs..I had no idea they were doing this but drank some of their fluids and ate some of their bananas. (much needed) then ran back to the REAL Nashville with my buddy Joe, who has run the South Africa Comrades Marathon and who used to get massages from the infamous Don Vaughn!
The other item: I was running by Cabana's night club...this was Sunday a.m. and I could hear music coming from the place. In the back they usually have it opened in the summer and I guess they hold church services now there on Sunday mornings..That's funny to me as just a few hours earlier it's a DEN of EVIL (drinks, women etc..)..so only in the South I guess, where bars turn into Churches???

OUT at STUMP JUMP

This is what happens when there is friction between your sock and shoe. Not a nice photo of the ball of my foot but it was painful enough for me to drop out of the race at mile 18. I'll post more later as a lot of folks are asking about the race.

2 days before Stump Jump

Ok..I'm in full taper. Actually feels good. I'm not so slow moving when I get out of bed in the a.m.
This week this is what I've done. Mon-3 miles
Tue-3miles easy a.m. track p.m. 2 x 800 -6 mile total
Wed-5 miles easy
Thu-3 miles a.m. track p.m. same as Tuesday
Fri-3 miles easy + travel
Sat-RACE
My foot does not feel like it did last year so no excuses. I dropped at 10 miles in 2007.
