Past Training

It's Friday before another 50K. It's cold and damp. Not my kind of weather. The high for race day is maybe 50F and light rain. My crew girl is hesitant in riding along on a bike, and wants to use a car. Don't blame her, as who wants to be out in this weather for 5 hrs crewing for someone with little or no reward.
Oh well..it will all work out. Always does. I'm trying to logistically help plan it out where she can use both car and bike. I also have someone who wants to get some miles in with me so I have to plan it out so they can meet me along the course and get their miles in but actually be there on time to pick me up? Then I have to bring along warm clothes, nutrition and anything else that may be needed. I like it better when I can just run...hot weather, running shorts and shoes and that's it. Oh, maybe sunglasses and h2o bottle.
I feel like I did back in my cycling race days. I will use those memories to get fired up, to know it will be easy. I remember training with Greg Dunn, Byron, Todd and some others on a cold winter Sunday. Greg and I were so cold we got sick. Not from a virus or anything but just from being freaking cold..another time on the trace where I had to stop into a store and warm up by the heater. I was shaking for over 1 hour as that's the body's response to try to warm up..then got a ride back into Nashville..those were miserable training days but days that will make tomorrow all the easier!!! Now I know why I trained on the bike all those years...We'll see.
